Relation to medical education?

Clinical Lecturer in Department of Primary Care and Public Health

At 9:04am on May 27, 2009, Susan Sanders said…: I am one of two Clinical Medical Librarians at University of Missouri-Kansas City, and I attend morning rounds twice weekly with 2 teams. Teams are comprised of docent physicians, residents, and students years 3-6. Following rounds, I send a teaching email message to the team about literature searching, and/or content, to help with their learning and/or patient care. I also teach an online literature search component of our medical school's class about medical decision making, aka how to read the literature and understand a study. We use LibGuides for our subject guides, and I've created a few guides. I like to help the students become more self-directed in their learning because from what I see, content delivery weighs heavily on lecture and testing, and move away from the sage on the stage model. I'm taking a 2nd master's in Educational Technology, which is helping me move towards instruction that leads to active learning and use of social media for instruction.
