Dear Members/Innovators!

This is the 6th week of the university credit course I launched this semester and I'd like to get some input regarding the topics we cover (good experience for next semester's English course).

The blog and the keynotes are here: http://med20course.wordpress.com

This week's topic: Medicine in Second Life.

I plan to talk about:

Mission of Second Life
Steps of registration
Basic features (how to fly, talk, record)
Why to use it (several advantages, a few disadvantages)
Examples: AMMC, Imperial College, Red Cross, Healthinfo Island, Second Nature
Featuring many videos and even more images.
3D wiki?
Doing Pubmed searches in SL.
How can patients use SL

What do you think?

looks amazing! What are students supposed to do with the website? Do they have assigned duties? Are they supposed to

fiddle with the online material before the class, how does it work? Additionally, do they have to complete a certain project after class?

What the learning methods employed here?

I've always perhaps overlooked Second Life, but is there evidence it brings added value to medical education?

First, Second Life: I have numerous reasons why it is and will be a fantastic educational tool.

Second, as this is only a 1 credit course, I cannot make them do projects, but always encourage all of them to participate in writing the blog. At least, some of them, who have never used or read blogs, now left comments. I'm optimistic so that must be a good sign.

A few of them started to use RSS, others launched blogs and we will see whether they want to join Second Life after today's presentation.

Next semester, with the English class, I plan to give projects to students (like find diabetic bloggers; medical wikis, etc.).

And why don't you do it with the hungarian students too? It would be interesting for everyone!

I cannot do so as the Hungarian course is a one-credit course, which means I cannot include a test or projects in the curriculum.

The English course will be a 2-credit course with exam and personal tasks.
